Excavation work has wrapped up at Oaklawn Cemetery, as scientists and researchers look for possible victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
During this excavation, 32 new burials were found and eight were removed from the ground for further study. Researchers also provided more information about the man that found with a bullet in his skull.
“That individual was buried with personal effects, including one shoe and keys. His level, his manner of burial indicates haste, or certainly the lack of consideration we’re used to seeing with the many burials we’ve examined,” said Anthropologist Dr. Phoebe Stubblefield,

Scientists will keep studying the remains at the bone lab, while DNA work continues.
